Last week I spent a few days at my alma mater, Kansas State University – College of Architecture Planning and Design in Manhattan, Kansas.
As many of you know, the University has an outstanding design program offering four professional design degrees:
- Architecture
- Interior Architecture and Product Design
- Landscape Architecture
- Regional and Community Planning
I was a guest for the annual event called Design Days hosted by the Departments of Landscape Architecture, Interior Architecture and Product Design. Design Days is a two-day event collaborative design charrette, where students tackle a contemporary issue that either the campus or the community. This years event was about re-thinking how the campus handles recycling.
I was so impressed with the design solutions resulting from the charrette, but even more so with the thoughtfulness and enthusiasm of the students.
It was fun to be back in Manhattan and to have the opportunity to spend time with the faculty and staff. Thanks for inviting me!
